Regardless of how experienced you are with Kratom, you know that there are a number of strains available on the market today. The origin and leaf vein color are what help to construct each strain — each color symbolizing compound structure. The most common Kratom strain that literally all other Kratom types are compared to is Indo Kratom (Indonesian Kratom).

As you might know, Indonesia sits right between the Indian and Pacific Oceans and comprises more than seventeen thousand islands — Yep, you read that right. Most people probably think of these beautiful temples, or the gorgeous secluded resorts that honeymooners flock to regularly, but Indonesia is so much more than this!
Indonesia is the world’s largest Island country and is in the top 5 most populous countries. Even still, it supports one of the highest levels of biodiversity. Over time, it’s grown to be an incredibly diverse and culturally rich place.
In addition to all of these fun facts, and similar to the other strains available (Maeng Da & Borneo, especially), Indonesia is such a desirable place for Kratom farming because of the humid climate and rich soil. The farms in Indonesia typically have hundreds upon hundreds of trees, and in most cases the Indo Kratom is harvested by hand. This business has been huge for their economy, and it’s turned many lives around. The good news for the locals: The Kratom industry has picked up the slack caused by the dying palm oil and rubber business.
Surprisingly, Kratom has really only been the cash crop that it is for just under two decades, and because of the lack of research and regulation, the future is pretty foggy for these farmers. We can confidently say that we hope to see progress in the Kratom industry, and hopefully these farmers continue to have solid business growth in the decades to come. Right now, they’re just doing all they can to meet the demands of their customers.
Throughout the islands, Indo Kratom is grown very similarly to the variety of strains that are offered today. Farmers will harvest the leaves that they deem ready and ‘ripe for picking’, and they’ll often leave the younger leaves for the next round of harvesting.
Once the leaves are picked, they’re then sent into a rigorous wash cycle. The sole purpose in this step of the process is to ensure the Kratom leaves are rinsed of any sort of dirt or potential contaminants. It’s not just a light spray down, the leaves are actually run through a soaking process before being set to dry.
When the leaves are soaked and ready for step three, they’re then placed either on racks, or hung up to dry — This can also be done either indoors or outdoors, farmer’s preference. Depending on the strain, and again, farmer’s choice, the leaves can be left to dry for a varied amount of time.
After the leaves are finished drying, they’re then destemmed (usually by hand), and then placed into a commercial grinder. This machine gives us the final powder product that we then airtight seal & package, and sell to our customers.
Super Indo Kratom on the other hand, is pretty self-explanatory. There are a couple of things that make it super: Typically the leaf sizes are bigger, meaning they’re more mature, and there’s higher alkaloid potency. This just means you’ll be getting a little more ‘oomph’ in your product. We do not recommend starting out with Super Indo Kratom, as it’s not intended for someone brand new to Kratom. Dip your toes in, give regular Indo Kratom a test, and then work your way up.
